Spicy!

Anytime I see a promisingly spicy recipe that I'm fairly certain I can make even more spicy with the addition of certain favorite ingredients of mine (including but not limited to jalapenos, cayenne pepper, and cumin), I just can't help myself. I have to make it. And I have to make it extra-spicy. I regularly cook enchiladas, tacos, burritos, southwestern egg rolls (YUM!), and many other fantastic spicy foods. Last night I used up a chorizo sausage (left-over from the two-pack I bought when I made empanadas) by dicing it and mixing it with ground beef, taco seasoning, and a bit of water and flour. It made delicious taco meat! I enjoyed my two tacos with lettuce, tomato, salsa, and guacomole, and FavoriteBoy enjoyed his four tacos with meat, more meat, cheese, and more cheese. One meal, two happy diners. Amazing.

Here's a common scenario whenever I serve anything spicy: I ask FavoriteBoy, "Is this too spicy?" FavoriteBoy, eyes watering as he lunges for a glass of water, replies, "Don't insult me! I'm a man! That's like asking a man, 'Is this engine too powerful for you?' or 'Do you have too many tools?' I love spicy! This is great!"

So Mexican-style dishes work well around here because SarahMarie likes spicy things and FavoriteBoy likes spicy things. And as I've mentioned before, FavoriteBoy is a bit of a picky eater. And by 'a bit of a picky eater,' what I mean is that the world has never seen nor will ever see again as picky an eater as he.

Yay! There's nothing better than spicy spicy spicy spicy spicy food. I miss jalapeno peppers and all forms of cayenne. mmmmm... Sarah, you've got to stop posting about food; you're always making me hungry for food I can't find!

  2. I am such a wuss compared to you two. :-)

And I still think my brother could beat your hubby hands down in a pickiness battle. Not that this is really something my brother should be proud of, come to think of it!
