Thoughts on an Unfortunate Anniversary

A week ago today, as you probably know, marked 40 years of Roe v. Wade.

Let's pretend that I'm blogging about it a week late just to keep things fresh and unexpected, and not because of baby teeth cutting through baby gums, baby laundry needing to be washed, and baby diapers needing to be changed.

Which, come to think of it, is a pretty appropriate reason, after all.

Last Tuesday evening I went to a video showing and panel discussion.  The film showed, BloodMoney, was compelling.  You can watch a 20 minute clip of the full film here.  The film addresses the issue of abortion from many angles: the racist history of the abortion industry, the fact that an industry, a moneymaking industry, is exactly what abortion is, the way the black population of our culture is impacted in particular, the information scientists have about the beginning of life, the physical and emotional dangers of abortion, and much more.

Auntie Leila from Like Mother, Like Daughter, had some of the best words I read that day: A Day of Penance and Prayer.

I couldn't agree with her more when she says, "Marriage is the solution to abortion."

Yes.

The solution to abortion is marriage.

Chastity.  Marriage.  Fidelity.

In the meantime, I hope Dr. Yoest has it right: The Coming Collapse of the Abortion Lobby.

  1. Great point. I had never heard that before. Marriage really IS the solution to this horrific act.
